"Art is never finished, only abandoned." - Leonardo da Vinci
"Over the past year, I self-recorded all 25 of my original songs. When I first started this project, I had no idea how long it would take, how much work was involved, or what it would mean to me. I spent countless hours trying to translate these songs from what I imagined they sound like in my head, into something that everyone could listen to. With very minimal recording experience, this process was very exciting and frustrating, and in the end very rewarding. I not only learned about music and recording, but I also learned a lot about myself.
For a long time I debated leaving several songs off the record, 25 just seemed like an astronomical number for an album. But recording every song forced me to in a way rewrite each of them; to relive the emotions that brought the song out of me in the first place. And in doing that, each song led me to rediscover a part of myself. Some parts were new and fresh, and others were old and forgotten. Nonetheless, each part, each song, was and therefore still is a part of me. A part of me that at some point was strong enough to break through and find its way into a melody. And because of that, it felt right to include all of them; as a way to acknowledge every part of who I am.
So here it is! It may not be perfect, but it turned out to be exactly what I set out to create. These songs capture moments, emotions, and ideas, and I’m ecstatic to share them with you!
I cannot thank you all enough for your love and support throughout this endeavor. I look forward to sharing more music with all of you in the near future!
All the glory goes to God. I thank Him for giving me the ability to feel these emotions and make something out of them." - Jackson
